Christmas Offering 2017

Great Lakers,

In December of 2009, Great Lakes Church was less than a year old.

At the time, we had just two staff members, owned no property, and were operating on a budget that shifted from week to week.

Despite the financial challenges we were facing, our church stepped out in faith and made a decision that became a defining moment for all of us.

We launched an annual Christmas Offering that stretched us financially and focused on partnering with high impact ministries here, near, and far.

Collectively, over the years, we’ve given away hundreds of thousands of dollars. We’ve started churches, sponsored water projects, fed hundreds of children, provided sources of sustainable income for individuals in developing countries, launched a prom for individuals with special needs, created a camp for kids in foster care, and funded many other mission works and projects.

This year, we are stepping out in faith again by setting a BIG GOAL of $150,000.

Regardless of where you are at financially, I hope that you will find a way to partner with us as we continue moving forward in being an outrageously generous church.

The best is yet to come!

HERE (Great Lakes Church):

You may have noticed that we've got a spectacular building in Racine and a new one coming in Kenosha. It’s pretty awesome, but we still have a lot of stuff we’re hoping to get... especially for kids! You can help this season by grabbing a few things off these lists that we’re still in need of.

NEAR (Our local communities):

  • Royal Family Kids Camp (Kenosha) -  We’re confronting abuse and changing lives with our 3rd annual camp for kids in foster care.
  • A Night to Remember Prom (Racine) - This year is round four for our prom that honors and celebrates individuals with special needs.
  • Mac & Cheesus (Kenosha & Racine) - For those under 18 years old, getting involved this season looks EXACTLY like your favorite mom-is-out-of-town meal... Mac N Cheese!!! It literally couldn’t be easier - YOU bring new boxes of Macaroni & Cheese to GLC and WE get them to the local shelters that need them. Generosity is in our DNA, and everyone can get involved, especially kids!

FAR (Outside of our local communities):

  • Riverside Church in Budapest, Hungary
  • In 2014, Great Lake Church gave a gift to help launch Riverside Church, almost 5,000 miles away. Today, just three years later, they are starting another church. Our goal is to pay the first year’s salary for a Hungarian speaking pastor.

Throughout the months of November and December we're asking you to consider increasing your generosity as a way of fueling our year-end projects. Since we operate with "one fund" at Great Lakes Church, there is no need to designate your gift in a specific way. Over the past several years, we've given away hundreds of thousands of dollars through our annual Christmas offerings.

As always, you can feel free to drop your gift in the mail or in one of the silver giving stations located in your campus lobby.

That being said, mark your calendars, because we’re setting aside Wednesday, December 13 and Sunday, December 17 (depending on which service you attend) to bring our biggest and best gift.

Prefer to give online? It should take less than 3 minutes. CLICK HERE to get started, then follow the steps below:

  1. Sign in to your account OR create an account if you've never done this before.
  2. For "Select Transaction" make sure "One Time Donation" is selected, then select the campus you attend.
  3. Enter your donation amount.
  4. Enter your billing information.
  5. Confirm donation.

WHY A SPECIAL OFFERING? Cuz gramma would be SO PROUD OF YOU! That, and what a great opportunity to grown in faith and prepare us for what God wants to do through GLC in 2018.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE REGULAR OFFERING AND THIS SPECIAL OFFERING? It’s basically the same as brushing your teeth and flossing. One you set aside a regular time to do it, the other you go above and beyond only when you’re on your way to see a dentist. The Christmas Offering is over and above your regular giving and is designated for specific mission efforts and projects.

HOW MUCH SHOULD I GIVE? Well that’s none of my business... it’s really between you and God. We do hope that everyone gets involved at some level as sacrificing above and beyond will stretch your faith.

WHEN SHOULD I GIVE? Do it today. Do it next week. Do it next paycheck. We’re hoping all the offerings are in before the end of the year as it helps us plan.

HOW DO I DESIGNATE MY CHRISTMAS OFFERING? Don’t worry about it. There is no need to designate your gift, because we have already strategically set a goal of giving away as much as possible during this season of our church!

ARE MY GIFTS TAX-DEDUCTIBLE? All gifts to Great Lakes Church are completely tax-deductible.  Be sure your gift arrives at our office before December 31, 2017 to ensure that it can be applied to your 2017 giving statement.  Please be sure to include your name and address when you give so that a receipt can be sent to you in early 2018 for your tax preparations.  You are not required to utilize a tax-deduction for your gift, but it is available for all gifts.
