THE BIG IDEA:

Love means wanting others to have what is truly good for them. God’s holy love is deeply offended by our sin, but acts to create reconciliation through the cross.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • What does it mean to love someone?
  • Why do we have so much trouble understanding God’s love?
  • Why is God so angry about our sin?
  • Where do we see the love of God most?

THE BIG IDEA:

Christianity can feel very trite. In some ways, it can become a "get out of hell free card". It's important that we don't miss the reality that eternal life starts now! The gospel doesn’t just secure a place in heaven for us, it leads us into a whole new way to live our lives today.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Why does Christianity feel so shallow and superficial?
  • What is the purpose of our lives and how can we live into it?
  • What is the mission of the church?

THE BIG IDEA:

Everyone longs for a world of peace, love, justice and mercy, but we don’t have any power to live that way when we’re disconnected from the holy love of God. Jesus died and rose again to restore us to God, and make us able to live the way we should.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Why is the world so broken and dark, even though people don’t want it that way?
  • Why do people have so much guilt, shame and fear, and how can they escape it?
  • What effect do Jesus’ death and resurrection have on the way we live?

THE BIG IDEA:

It’s okay if we don’t have a strong sense of God’s presence; learning how to trust God even when we don’t feel his presence is part of following Jesus. God does show himself to us in many ways, especially in Jesus.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Why doesn’t God just show himself to us?
  • What should I do if I want to know God?
  • Why does sin make it hard to know God?

THE BIG IDEA:

Seeking God’s will can be a struggle, but that’s okay, it’s part of learning to follow Jesus. God has shown us enough of his will in the Bible for us to become wise people without needing further revelation, and we can follow him in many different possible life paths.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • How can I know which way God wants me to go in all my decisions?
  • What does it mean to be wise?
  • Should I be concerned that my life is “out of God’s will for me”?

THE BIG IDEA:

God doesn’t want us to be afraid he’ll hurt us; he wants us to love him and look up to him be in awe of him so much that we’re afraid of disappointing him.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Does God want me to be afraid of him? If not, why does the Bible seem to say he does?
  • Do we worship God only to avoid punishment for our sin?
  • How can we trust that God loves us in spite of our sin?

THE BIG IDEA:

The Holy Spirit supervised the writing of the Bible and has always ensured that God’s people would preserve it. Historical evidence doesn’t back up the various claims people make that call the reliability and authenticity of the Bible into question.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Can we trust the Bible?
  • Who decided which books would be in the Bible, and how did they decide?
  • What is the relationship between the Holy Spirit, the Bible and the church?

THE BIG IDEA:

We must strive to avoid all sin, so people who sin in an obstinate, openly rebellious way are showing that they aren’t really following Jesus and aren’t saved. On the other hand, all of us are still imperfect; sins of weakness shouldn’t make us doubt our faith.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Can I be sure that I’m saved?
  • Will my sin separate me from Jesus?
  • How can people say they’re saved and live in ways that ignore God’s commands?

THE BIG IDEA:

Religions have very different ideas of God, so they can’t all lead to the same one! We love all of our neighbors, whatever their religion, but only the Bible says “God is love,” and the Bible’s unique view of God’s love is the basis of our relationship with him.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • How do different religions view God?
  • How can we love and respect all people, even if we don’t worship the same God?
  • What does the nature of God – the Trinity – reveal to us?
  • How and why does God save us from sin?

THE BIG IDEA:

God hasn’t been very explicit about what will happen to people who never hear of Jesus. Christians have held several different views about this; the main thing is to trust that whatever God does, it will be the right thing.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • What happens to all the people through history who never heard the gospel?
  • What happens to babies who die in infancy?
  • What happens to people who aren’t able to understand the gospel?

THE BIG IDEA:

God made us to be in a real relationship of holy love with him and each other, which required free will. When we use that will for evil, suffering reveals God’s holiness, and also makes us aware of how distant we are from God and how desperately we need Jesus – the savior-king who will one day put an end to all evil and suffering.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • Why would a good God allow people to do evil in the first place?
  • Why would a good God allow so much suffering in the world?
  • If suffering is a punishment for evil, why do some babies get cancer, while some of the wickedest people get by with seemingly very little suffering?

THE BIG IDEA:

God is all-knowing, all-powerful and all-good, but he’s not a machine; he made us to be in relationship with him, so he listens to us and is responsive to us! We also benefit from devoting attention to him regardless of whether he grants any particular prayer.

THIS VIDEO IS INTENDED TO START A CONVERSATION ON:

  • If God knows everything and has all wisdom, why would he even listen to our prayers?
  • If God is all-powerful and has a plan for history, how could he change his plan?
